Today we’re going to talk about a very simple, yet healthy and delicious salad. I know many of you might not think so, but it really is delicious, although it doesn’t look it. Furthermore, it is much more importantly healthy for you.

This salad is comprised of only two simple ingredients. Those are carrots and beet.

So, eating beet helps with the prevention of cardiovascular diseases in multiple ways.

It has been shown that beet is helpful in preventing skin, lung, and colon cancer because it contains the pigment betacyanins.This pigment betacyanin opposes cancerous cell growth. Nitrates that are used in the preservation of meat have been shown to stimulate the production of nitrosamine compounds in the body which can also result in cancer. In order to prevent this, consumption of beet juice inhibits the cell mutations caused by these compounds.Researchers in Hungary have discovered that beet juice and its powdered form also slows down tumor development.

Beet is also a source of vitamin C which helps prevent asthma symptoms.  Beta-carotene that is inside beet also helps to prevent lung cancer.
